IDSL pledges to do more for host communities … as the Edo State House of Assembly Ad-Hoc Committee on state affairs pays courtesy visit to IDSL.

As part of its resolve to strengthen the bond between the host Communities and Integrated Data Services Limited, the Managing Director, Engr. Diepiriye Tariah has assured the Communities that IDSL will continue to do all within its power to provide more sustainable projects.

Engr. Tariah, who made the statement during the visit of the Edo State House of Assembly Ad-hoc Committee on State Affairs to IDSL recently, added that the projects are part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility investments to its host communities and the state at large.

The Managing Director informed the Committee that IDSL as a Company had done very well in the fulfillment of it Corporate Social Responsibilities to the communities where its operations are carried out, adding that over the years IDSL had given several educational assistance to numerous university undergraduates, empowered youths and women economically, supported by adopting both Oba Ewuare Grammar School and Ekhaguere Primary School, thereby making available numerous learning equipment like the provision of teachers tables and chairs, students desks and chairs, desk- top computer sets, payment of stipends to NYSC members posted to the schools, among other supports.

Engr. Diepiriye assured the Committee that IDSL, as the first value chain in the NNPC, is indeed a responsible company that does not take matters relating to the wellbeing of the State/Community where it operates lightly.

On issues relating to compliance to the Environment Policy, the Managing Director, informed the Committee that IDSL, as a global player in the Oil and Gas industry, has already been awarded the ISO 14001 EMS certification by the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), in view of its sustainable environmental practices in the course of its operations.

Engr. Diepiriye also appealed to the Committee to look into the issue of security in the state, as an insecure work environment would impact negatively on the productivity of companies operating in the state. 

The Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Okaeben Christopher disclosed that the Committee was set up to rekindle the synergy between the Communities, the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) and the companies/establishments operating within Edo State.

He added that the Committee was also established to handle petitions received from communities that host various companies/establishments, and to ascertain challenges faced by the companies, in order to proffer solutions within the jurisdiction of the Edo State Government.

Honourable Okaeben lauded the Management and Staff of IDSL for its clean records in community relations, saying in his words, “IDSL is a responsible company with a responsible Management team, as, of all the petitions received, IDSL was never mentioned.”

He commended IDSL for contributing to the economic empowerment and development of the state, for seeing Edo State as a safe haven, from where it can carry out all its operations, a situation which has led to the employment of indigenes of the state.

The Chairman assured the Managing Director that all hands are presently on deck, to ensure the safety of lives and properties, as he said the issue of security had already been escalated to the highest authority and the results would be visible for all to see very soon.
