The President/Managing Director, Bureau of Geo-Physical Prospecting (BGP), a Subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Mr. Gou Liang, has assured the Integrated Data Services Limited (IDSL) of his company’s commitment to establish an all-round strategic partnership which will fully support its joint projects, and give priority to introduce its new technology and equipment to achieve better successes in its joint venture projects with IDSL.

The President, BGP gave the assurance of his company’s commitment during the BGP Delegates’ courtesy visit to the Management of IDSL recently, which he said was aimed at developing long term strategies with its partner (IDSL).

Mr. Gou Liang, appreciated the Management of IDSL for the level of cooperation and the excellent relationship that exists between the two companies which has contributed positively to the Oil and Gas exploration business in Nigeria.

The Managing Director, IDSL, Engr. Diepiriye Tariah, who received the team of BGP top management delegate, commended the group for looking beyond its busy schedule and trip distance, to visit its partner (IDSL), “it only proves that the partnership between IDSL and BGP is very important to you, and we appreciate your gesture” he said.

Engr. Diepiriye, noted that the relationship between the Joint Venture dates far back as 2009, and that the partners have achieved a lot together from land zone to transition zone and now to Marine Acquisition.

The MD applauded the successes it has recorded over the years with its BGP partner in the Land and Transition zone projects and urged that same level of success is expected from its marine sector which is the most recent partnership with its BGP counterpart. He noted that a successful record in the marine sector will further boost the two Companies’ growth which will someday place the partners as one of the best Afro-China Ventures in the world.

Engr. Tariah used the opportunity to inform the team of IDSL’s intentions to become a full blown Marine ‘capable’ company by the year 2020, and urged its BGP partners to ensure that IDSL gets all the support it deserves to pride its self in the Marine Acquisition Business.

The Executive Director, Operations, IDSL, Mrs. Dorathy Umoetok, appreciated the team for the visit and urged that the language communication barrier that exists between both partners be bridged to enable the joint venture excel beyond its present status.

It will be recalled that in 2009, IDSL signed a Joint Venture agreement with Chinese owned Bureau of Geo-Physical Prospecting (BGP), a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). The Joint Venture has since inception recorded remarkable successes in its various operations, which includes;

-          The JV 209, FES KOLMANI (Barambu, Bauchi State) which has since been successfully completed.

-          The JV of NNPC/First E&P OMLs 83/85 (Offshore Lagos), Marine Seismic Data Acquisition was also successfully completed in January, 2018.

Other on-going projects are;

-          JV 309- FES KUZARI located in Bojude Community in Gombe State

-          JV 409- FES NASARA, located in Gombe State

-          JV 509- NAPIMS/Belema Oil, located in Rivers State.

The IDSL/BGP JV acquires its prospects using modern high tech technology and equipment like Streamer cables, Vibroiseis, Sercel 428 etc.

The BGP Delegates in attendance included President, BGP International, Mr. Zhai Lixin; Marketing Manager of BGP International, Mr. Huang Yanhin; Managing Director, BGP Nigeria, Mr. Bai Guangyu; Director,  BGP Administration, Mr. Chang Xuejun; Vice President, BGP Marine, Luo Junchao; Sales Manager, BGP Marine West Africa, Sun Tuo.

Other IDSL Management team, who received their BGP counterpart alongside the Managing Director, included the Executive Director, Services, Mr. Olufemi Sijuade; Manager, Finance and Accounts, Mr. Brownson Okereke; Manager, Reservoir Engineering Services, Mr. Francis Aniya; Manager, Public Affairs, Mr. Babalola Falobi; Manager, Supply Chain Management, Mr. Josiah Ikusemoro; Ag. Manager, Planning and Budget Monitoring, Dr. Oba Osibanjo; Company Secretary/Legal Advicer, Mr. Paul Madu; amongst others.
