Ayebateke F. Bariwei is the current MD, IDSL
Piloting the affairs of a leading world class data servicing Company, like the Integrated Data Services Limited (IDSL) requires vast competence in geological and geophysical capabilities. Data acquisition Services in all terrains: Land, Swamp, Transition Zones and Marine; Exploration and Reservoir Engineering Services, Data Processing and Data Storage and Management Services requires someone with renowned experience and sagacity in upstream sector, Engr. Ferdinand Bariwei is indeed the man for the job.
With a huge experience running for over 32 years in the upstream industry, Engr. Bariwei is a well-trained seasoned professional in Deep-water Drilling, Well completion, Field Development Planning Activities, as well as Oil & Gas Projects Management. He has worked over operations in land and offshores.
His slogan, "Running to Exceed with TAPE", which he rolled out on assumption of office, as the Managing Director, IDSL, in March, 2020, has his clear vision to surmount set targets and increase the Company's revenue base. And to take IDSL into the International Community and everyone must be ready to hit the ground running with him on his vision.
Born on April 21, 1961 in Korokorosei Community of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Engr. Bariwei had his elementary and secondary education in Ukubai, all in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. He bagged a B.Eng in Petroleum Engineering from the prestigious University of Ibadan, Oyo State, in 1985, after completing his West African School Certificate Examination in 1979 with distinctions.
In December, 1987, Engr. Bariwei joined the NNPC as a Drilling and Well Completion Engineer in the Petroleum Engineering and Drilling Department of NPDC, Benin City, Edo State. As a Drilling and Well Completion Engineer, he efficiently achieved major milestones with: the completion/workover status for Oil & Gas condensation of Oredo and Abura fields in Edo State; the Sand Control Operations programs and carried out production performance review of producing wells, where he recommended remedial operations.
In 1998, he was appointed to join the Monitoring Committee for Joint Venture Operation, (MCJV), in Lagos. The Committee reviewed, collated and recommended operations' monthly cash call requests, and expenditure returns as well as reviewed operations' technical performances. They advised Government on the implementation of the Joint Venture work programs, and monitored expatriates quota of Joint Venture partners.
Engr. Bariwei became the Superintendent, Base Petroleum Engineer, NPDC, in 1995, where he obtained major giant achievements to his credit.
Between 2000 and 2002, he was attached to Erha Field Development Projects in Houston, USA, where he effectively participated in the Field Development Concept Screening and Selection; Reservoir Stimulation; Wells Productivity Studies using Nodal Analysis; Development of Reservoir Management Plan, as well as prepared field development plan for the field and ran economic evaluation of the project.
Between 2003 and 2006, became a Drilling Engineer with Ocean Energy Nig. Limited, where he planned and drilled wells in OPL 256 in water depths of over 5000ft. amongst other achievements in deep drilling operations that he has handled.
His giant strides in goal settings and achievements saw him climb through ranks in the NNPC, as he attained the position of Deputy Manager, Drill Department of NPDC in 2007 and became the Manager of NPDC's Port Harcourt Field Office, in 2008.
He latter got redeployed from NPDC's Port Harcourt Field Office (PHFO) to the Drilling Department of NPDC's head office in Benin, in 2013.
One of his major recorded feats, amongst others, was his successful management of the offshore drilling and well completion activities of OML 119, of NPDC's Port Harcourt Field Office, after taking over operations from Agip Nig. Limited.
Engr. Bariwei was appointed Executive Director, Health Safety and Environment Division, NPDC, Benin, in March, 2018. Within his first six months in office, he repositioned the Division by ensuring its compliance with regulatory provisions and global HSE best practices and standards. He also ensured provision of Environment Impact Assessment Services, Clean-up and remediation of polluted areas in NPDC fields and offices; and consumables to NPDC field locations. He also formulated the Company's safety policy for fire prevention and protection strategies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Until his recent promotion as Managing Director, IDSL, Engr. Bariwei was the General Manager, Exploration & Development Division, NPDC.

He is a fellow of the Institute of Management in Consultant (IMC); Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and member, Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
Engr. Bariwei loves swimming, playing chess, and reading as hobbies. He is happily married and the union is blessed with children.
