Aminu A. Maitama
Engr. Ahmed Aminu Maitama was born on the 23rd of September, 1964, and hails from Kano State, Nigeria.
He had his secondary education in 1980 at the Science Secondary School in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano State, where he obtained his WASC Certificate; and his preliminary studies from the School of Preliminary Studies, where he obtained his GCE Certificate in 1982, also in Kano State.
In 1987, Engr. Maitama attended the University of Maiduguri, in Borno State, where he has his BSc Honors in Geology. In his quest for more academic achievements, he attended the prestigious and renowned University of Ibadan, Oyo State in 1995, where he bagged his Masters of Science in Geophysics Degree.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) employed Engr. Maitama in August 1991. He was posted to the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), Frontier Exploration Services' office, Lagos, as a Geologist, where he diligently participated in several projects.
In 1999, he was promoted as a Senior Geologist, and later, he became an Assistant Chief Geologist in 2002, also in NAPIMS, FES. Engr. Maitama was promoted to Deputy Chief Geologist of NAPIMS, Productions Sharing Contractors (PSC)/FES and NAPIMS PSC/EXPL in 2004 and 2007, respectively.
In 2007, he was transferred to NNPC's Exploration and Production, International Venture Opportunities in Abuja, where he scouted for investment opportunities in the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) region.
Due to his dedication to work, Engr. Maitama was promoted in 2008 as the Chief Geologist of NNPC's International Venture Opportunities, Abuja, and was later redeployed to the Lagos NAPIMS, FES Office in 2010. As Chief Geologist with NAPIMS, he has some achievements to his name, as he successfully supervised and monitored: the Phase 2 to 4 of FES' Seismic Processing of Chad Basin's 3D Seismic Data; the scanning and vectorization of Chad Basin's 2D Seismic Data; and the Integrated Basin Studies of Benue Trough, Anambra, Dahomey, Illmeden and Bida Basins; amongst others.
In 2013, Engr. Maitama achieved a major milestone, as he became the Deputy Manager, Regional and Basinal Studies, NAPIMS, FES, in Lagos. Thereafter, he was redeployed to the NAPIMS, PSC/EXPL as Deputy Manager, Geophysics.
In January, 2019, he was promoted as Manager, PSC Exploration, NAPIMS.
Subsequently, in March 2020, he was transferred to the Integrated Data Services Limited (IDSL), Benin City, as the Executive Director, Operations.
Engr. Maitama has attended several professional training programmes in both Nigeria and Overseas, and he is a professional member of National Associate of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE); Nigerian Mining and Geoscience Society (NMGS); American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG); Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
Engr. Maitama loves horse riding. He is married and blessed with children.
